storybook endings fairytales coming true , deep down inside we want to believe they still do - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - “merlin.” was the only word uttered from the lips of the redhead. there on his bed lay his outfit for this evening. the dress robes were hideous, no doubt about that. Why does everything I wear have to look so... ugh, he questioned himself. but he wasn't going to complain; he came from a family with little money to spare and he would have to deal with it. but seriously... george glanced over at fred's bed. his robes weren't much better but he would still have a fit when he saw them. fred was currently down in the common room with lee jordon, discussing some joke. george had felt a little left out - fred's loudness often contrasted with him when he was in a quiet, thinking mood. george had come up here to escape but also to get ready. blimey, he would have to do something drastic to fix it. anyway, he needed to get changed before fred came up exploding with energy. at least his wasn't as bad as ron's. poor uncle bilius had no taste at all... concerning himself, he was pretty sure his and fred's were from one of his mother, molly's brothers.
george quickly pulled off his t-shirt, briefly exposing a well-toned body before his shirt covered it. soon it was buttoned and his trousers were on. in fact within a few moments he had attatched the bow tie part and was slipping on the over-robes. unlike poor ronnie's who's were a digusting brown-red colouring george's were simply a deep red. worse than ron's, for sure. catching sight of himself in the mirror the sixth year sighed. this was a time when magic really came in useful. when he saw himself a moment or two later he couldn't help but grin. the frankly disgusting blood red colour had been transformed to look like sparkling rubies sewn into the fabric. when he moved it was if he was glistening and sparkling. maybe for once he would outshine fred... not that he had anything against the wind beneath his wings that was fred but sometimes he felt that he should be the one cracking all the wisecracks and getting the glory. fred was just so loud and 'there' that he was sometimes pushed into the background unknowingly.
the male took his mask from his bedside table at fitted it onto his face. himself and fred had devised a plan - design 'highwayman' masks that looked amazing. then everyone knew that it was a weasley twin they were admiring from afar. george's base colour was red. the mask fitted over his face perfectly and also boasted a pair of horn-like features that covered his brow. george looked in the mirror and couldn't help but grin widely. the tall gryffindor stole one last look at himself before exiting the room. the common room was just about deserted as people were off getting ready. only fred, lee jordon and some of the first years were still sitting there. normally george would have waited for his twin but today he wanted to enter alone. anyway, everyone would know who he was on account of the trademark weasley hair but for some reason he wanted to do this on his own.
george walked down the grand staircase quickly, ignoring the looks some girls were giving him. it was good news if they stares; laughs and he'd know that he looked ridiculous. george pushed open the doors and went inside the great hall. and it had really been decorated to its full potentional. the ceiling was obviously enchanted to appear as if it was twilight and the walls had been covered with candles. the whole room looked fantastic. quite a lot of people were already there, dancing to an upbeat tune being played by the band. george headed over to the edge of the room, beside the pumpkin punch. if only he had the courage to ask someone to dance. it was normally fred who did that kind of thing. what was he going to do?

Lauren looked in her reflection, and saw the canvas in front of her, she knew what to do. The other girls looked at her oddly and she opened up her trunk with a flick of her wand and gave them all a wink. "Who wants to dazzle some boys tonight?" They all seemed excited and she helped them all get ready to go. She heard Fred talking to Lee Jordan down the stairs, good that meant that she could sneak by without a problem. The sixth year started to assist the other girls, and they all looked so thrilled when they saw their reflections in the mirror before they put on their final touch, the masks. The girl watched them leave with huge grins on all of their faces, and she already knew that they would have a good night out there on the dance floor. Now, she just had to worry about what she was going to do for herself now. But, she knew it had to top whatever she had done before this.
At first she looked through her dresses, and thought on it for a long while. She think chose one and grinned at her ability to know what would do it. Lauren made sure everything worked just right on the dress, adjusting it just the way she would want it with the lovely assistance of her wand. The next thing she worked on was jewelry, looking from something more simple for the jewelry. If your dress was elegant, you needed something that was simple, but beautiful. She set up the necklace and the earrings. She put on a few simple crystal bracelets and then looked carefully at how everything was set up so far. Lauren looks carefully at her complexion, thinking about how she could get all of her make-up to work with what all she had so far. She then, delicately started her work on it, being sure to do it carefully so she could not mess anything up, and then look like a fool.
The sixth year then worked on her hair, and looked at her reflection. She let out a sigh. "I really hope neither of the twins learn this was me... ...or I will be in trouble." Lauren slipped on her mask after that, and her eyes stood out perfectly through the mask. No one knew what she had been planning to wear, and it was a mask of sliver and red. She had made just a very slight tinge of blue on the eye rims in order to have her eyes stick out. With that, she headed out of the dorm room, and headed down the stairs. The girl sunk past Fred and Lee, seeing George's dress robes disappear right as she had gone into the common room. She paused a second before going to the portrait hole, and headed down the stairs, all the way to the great hall, where the ball was to be at. She felt her mind race, she needed to compose herself, or she would for sure give herself away.
She headed into the great hall, and took a look around the place. The boys started to stare, and one guy that was sitting down literally fell out of his chair. The girl chuckled and helped him back up. The boy was too nervous to say anything, so she just smiled and walked on. Then Lauren headed towards the Pumpkin punch and other such things. The girl probably needed to get a drink before starting her search for one certain ginger. She headed to the punch bowl and got some of it for herself and sipped a bit of it, and then she looked up and saw George. At first she stayed silent, and then she spoke, a light smile on her face. "You look rather lonely there. Would you care for a dance?" The girl had altered her voice slightly, and the tone of it was soft and sweet sounding like a bell. Lauren knew that this would be one of the most interesting experiences that she would have in her life, that had nothing to do with some prank or a battle against some dark force.

storybook endings fairytales coming true , deep down inside we want to believe they still do - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - george didn't stand still doing nothing for too long as he knew it would attract stares. he took another look around to see if fred was there yet before taking a glass of punch. the punch was delicious - surely dumbledore had enchanced it to make it even more well, delicious. the ginger haired male was just taking another swig from his drink when in walked the godess of beauty itself. george's throat seemed to close up when he saw her. and that and drinking were a bad combination. george began to choke, coughing and spluttering to no end. what a great way to attract someone. and someone as beautiful as that! he could see that the other males in the room were as breathtaken as him. why should she even look at him? george's sky blue eyes followed her as she helped one of the guy's who'd fallen off his chair. how could anyone look so beautiful and still be human?
george set down his punch, fearing that it would fall out of his hand if she so much as took a step in his direction. the gryffindor sighed and lowered his head slightly. why should he have even thought that she would have wanted to dance with him? yet a hope flickered in his mind like a candle... or a wand using the lumos spell. george tried not to think about the girl in the red dress. but then there she came, right beside him. she took a drink of punch. a new, strange thought danced across his mind. if he 'accidently' knocked her arm so it poured back into the bowl and then took a drink he'd be drinking her punch. wait, what was he thinking? god, he was having strange thoughts because he was so nervous.
a smile. her smile. she smiled at him. the whole world froze. george froze. the band froze. she froze. everyone froze. everything froze. then time started again when she spoke. ""You look rather lonely there. Would you care for a dance?"
george was in shock. a girl, asking him to dance? had fred or lee put them up to this? no, they were nowhere to be seen. surely it wasn't a joke either. something deep in his mind was yelling at him to just take a chance and accept the dance. "uh... sure," he answered, with a small smile. he stood there for a moment, obviously looking a fool, before snapping into action. he took her hand and led her onto the dance floor. as more and more people came in the badn changed their song to a slow one. of course it was. george couldn't dance at the best of times but this? oh god. he attempted a smile at his dancing partner before looking down at his feet for a moment. "just a heads up - i can't dance. so i apologise if i accidently kick you or something," he muttered with a more george-like grin. he probably would end up landing a few people in the hospital wing before the night was out. as the song began he copied most of the other guys and laid a hand on her waist, with one hand still locked in hers. and he started to dance. "You gotta be cautious with that Pumpkin punch." She said, and her voice sounded just slightly amused. Lauren grinned, and she couldn't help it. Now, she was finally going to get that dance with George that she had always wanted. Most people would have probably laughed if she told them that she had always wanted to have a dance with George, but it was true. The girl was a good dancer, and she knew how to help other people out with such things, even with they were a guy. "My friends would have laughed if I told them that I have always wanted to dance with you." The voice was once again that sweet, soft bell that he had heard once before. "You surely aren't Fred, right?" She tried to make it sound like she didn't know for sure, but that she wanted George, not Fred. The girl took it extra slowly, being sure to contain caution in her steps, it was very easy going.
She kept up with her calm outside, but on the inside her whole body was screaming. Lauren felt her emotions go all over the place, and she knew that the inside was really wanting to come out, she held back though, keeping her calm demeanor. "I could tell straight away that you were one of the two twins. And, I have always liked you, George a bit more." At that she grinned a bit at him, and looked around at the other guys. She felt a bit of envy and just shrugged. "Just take the steps easy, and you will be fine." Feeling the eyes starting to watch them both a little bit. "There is no reason to pay attention to them in the least bit." The girl, of course spoke of the people that were having both their eyes on the beauty and George. Most of them seemed to be confused that the beauty had picked George over all of the other guys that were in the room that she could have picked.
After the song ended, she paused for a second and tried to scan the room quickly, making sure that Fred and Lee weren't there. "I think they are going to have a fast song next." And, that was indeed true, and she turned from slow dancing relaxed and go into the fast speed. The girl laughed at herself a little bit. "I am being a bit crazy aren't I?" She has great skill, and seemed to not care about all the stares from other boys. She seemed to have no interest in them in the slightest. It did not bother her so much that her inside was screaming, now that she was letting out some of her inner chaos through the fast song. Surely, George would not mind this type of person being in his company for the night, especially if they were the beauty that deserved everything staring at her and swooning over the were looks that she had. She just wanted to be impressive to George for one night.
Right now, the last thing on her mind was being found out after all this. If that happened, then she would have to worry about that in detail later on. She didn't really care about that much at the moment. "Just let me know when you feel like stopping and we can just talk." The voice spoke as if it was encouraging him to say that if he truly didn't feel like dancing anymore. "Because I would like to know a bit more about you." Lauren was truly acting like she did not know him that well at that moment, and she hoped that the acting worked. She really did.

storybook endings fairytales coming true , deep down inside we want to believe they still do - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
george seemed to be in a state of permanent shock this evening. she had just said that she had always wanted to dance with him. "really? well, it's a good thing you didn't tell them then,"
he replied, a hint of puzzlement to his voice. he had never, not even in his wildest dreams, thought anyone would have wanted to dance with him. (yes, he had a pretty low opinion of himself right now.) george was trying to concentrate on that accidently stamping on her foot when he became aware of the beautiful girl speaking again. "You surely aren't Fred, right?" he smiled and shook his head. "no, i'm all george." he felt as though he was on cloud nine. there he was, dancing with a gorgeous girl who actually liked him. george was just getting into the dancing; it was amazing that he hadn't fatally injured her by now. "I could tell straight away that you were one of the two twins. And, I have always liked you, George a bit more." now he really was in shock. "i knew that i should have charmed my hair bright yellow or something," he laughed before changing to seriousness ", but really, i'm a bit surprised that you like me. make that really surprised." he felt the other guy's gaze on them and started to get a little more nervous. but when she reassured him he calmed down. his pulse returned to normal. or at least, as close to normal as it could get in his current state. he was still confused though - why hadn't she chose any of the other guys? when the song ended george felt a pang of sadness. now she would probably go off in search of another person to dance with. someone better than him. so it was to his surprise (boy, he was feeling a lot of that tonight.) when she stayed with him. her guess was true as the music increased in speed and so did her dancing. george was better at fast dancing when he could do whatever he wanted. he couldn't help but laugh at her words. "crazy is good!" he laughed. it was all over within a few moments, or so it seemed. he wasn't thinking about fred at all. he was having a ball with a beautiful girl. he started to slip into a daydream right there and then. the redhead was thrust back into reality at her voice. "Just let me know when you feel like stopping and we can just talk." to be honest, he felt like just slowing down and talking. he smiled when she said about wanting to know more about him. were his dreams coming true or what? "sure, we can just talk. we could go and sit over there," he replied, gesturing over to a couple of chairs near the food table. he began to walk over there, making sure that the beautiful stranger was following. after he'd pulled out a seat for her to sit on and had sat down himself he offered a wide smile. "so, what do you want to know?" he asked cheerfully. he would like to know who she was but he had the feeling that she wanted her identity to remain secret. Lauren grinned, and knew that she now was in control. That now she could do what she had really been wanting to do for a long time now. She smiled, seeing George slowly calm down from the shock of the girl asking her to dance. "Bright yellow doesn't work with you." She said giving a chuckle about it, and then when they sat down she looked into his eyes, and let out s sigh. This was so great. Plus, the bonus was that he seemed to have no clue who she was, or if she even knew him at all. Which, was the beauty of this ball. She kept the mask on, and spoke with that ball voice. "Well, I know you are a beater for the Gryffindor team. What else do you do?" She made the pumpkin punch she had from before come over, to the table, and she slipped the shoes carefully off her feet. Lauren knew that if she kept them on for too long that her feet would get sore from wearing them.
"I'm not on any Quidditch team. I really like the sport though." The girl spoke, and seemed to have calmed down a lot from the dance floor. As long as she didn't give too much away, she would probably be home free without a problem. "I am in Gryffindor myself, but I don't think that matters too much there are a ton of us." With that, she sounded amused and had her eyes look at the people that were dancing. She truly did think that some of the girls out there were insane. They could do five dances without stopping. The girl shook her head with just a slight bit of a smile on her face. "I don't get how they can do that. Wear the shoes that we wear, and then get away with five songs." Showing her genuine thoughts on this helped calm down her mind, and she felt like she could actually do this now that she was sitting down across from him at the table.
Lauren then thought on something a bit. What was he going to do to try to figure out who she was? Or was he even going to bother? If he didn't bother that would not make her too happy, but if he started looking he probably would never figure her out. Guys were like that for some reason, they looked everywhere, but the right place to look. "Other than that I just do normal school stuff I guess." She shrugged as if all the stuff that she did was not that big of a deal, and wasn't really worth noticing by anybody. It was true that other than her pranks, she lived a pretty average life as a student. The girl got good marks, and then went on with life, and kept up her studies so she could become a teacher when she grew up. "I just keep up on everything and just enjoy my time." She knew she sounded a bit boring, but she was trying to go at that she was just like everybody else, and that she just was like this tonight and wasn't a sparkling beauty queen in normal daily life.
If this went as she was planning it, this would probably be the best night that she could remember. It would probably also be one of George's best nights as well. She wondered when she would leave. Probably not yet, but she would probably have to in awhile. Lauren had some work to do, and plus she needed to leave before he started getting too deep in with his questions. If he did it would become very easy for him to figure out who she was, along with anyone else that heard about all that happened. No, she had to have them all figure it out for themselves without her being involved that much. She just hoped that someone that tried to help him out had the brain cells to ask her what was going on. The girl would only say, if they asked her first. Otherwise, they would call remain clueless.

george scanned his eyes over the dancers for a few seconds as his beautiful dance partner took a seat. as soon as she was seated he returned his gaze to her and grinned. as she said that she knew he was a beater for gryffindor he nodded. it was always hard to tell which weasley it was who was when they were flying high up in the sky, each carrying a bat. in fact, it was hard to tell them apart on ground too. what else did he do? "well, i like pranks, as you probably know. but really, i just like making people happy. pretty boring!"
he answered, laughing at the end of his words. it was the truth though. he loved cheering people up, whether it was with a laugh or just sitting down and talking. doubtless it did sound quite boring. when he heard that she enjoyed quidditch he was suddenly on edge. all he had to do was search the crowds! then his common sense kicked in for the first time in a few months. he couldn't search the crowd and watch out for bludgers at the same time. damn. there went his brilliant plan. "I am in Gryffindor myself, but I don't think that matters too much there are a ton of us." she said it didn't matter?! what world did she live in? now he had to look out in the common room for the beauty. it didn't occur to him that that could be quite difficult. his gaze strayed to the dancers, eyes widening as he saw a few girls who'd been there when he was dancing. when the girl commented he laughed. "i'd never be able to do that, even if i could walk in heels," he laughed, a mental image of that predicament sneaking into his head. george didn't say anything, remaining in companionable silence. he was curious to her identity, of course, but he didn't want to push her. it was quite a shock to him that he couldn't recognise anyone. their masks must be good. he didn't really have a use to a mask - everyone knew who he was - but he didn't want to break the whole idea of a masquerade. george turned his head back to lauren as she began to speak. so she just did normal school stoof? pah, that was likely. "c'mon, you're not a goody-two-shoes, are you? or i might have to leave right now," he teased, a light smile on his face. he wouldn't leave; nothing could make him leave her. unless someone actually dragged his dead body away forcefully. "I just keep up on everything and just enjoy my time." george couldn't help but laugh at that. "girl, don't you ever go and do something completely crazy and unimaginable? ever mess about with your friends or something?" he asked with a laugh. he wasn't less attracted to her but he just couldn't believe she didn't break out of herself and have some fun. Lauren grinned a bit when he said that he liked to make people happy. She knew that he said that was boring, but the opposite was true, it was very exciting. "I think that is it really cool that you like doing that." The girl spoke honestly, and her eyes sparkled just a little bit in the twilight lighting. She sounded like quite the sap didn't she? Having all this conversation about being a normal person and all that. It must have been a bit dull to George, but then she was bit surprised hearing that he was joking with the goody-goody two toes comment. She almost sighed in relief on the outside, but she didn't do it. "Well... I am not a goody-goody if that is what you are thinking." Her smile was still very visible, you could tell that she was really enjoying all of this very much.
"Yes, I do sometimes, and I might tonight as well." There was a hint at her wanting to do something daring. Something that she had wanted to do for a little while now, but now was probably the best time to. Lauren let there be a little bit of silence and then closed both of her eyes and gave him a kiss right on the lips and then pulled back being sure only to open her eyes when she was at a fair distance away. "Is that daring enough for you?" The girl grinned at him, and knew that she was having one of the best nights that she had ever had. She knew that she was only sixteen, but this was great. The girl knew that he had no idea who she was, but that didn't matter at the moment. What mattered was the fact that she had a shot at what she had wanted to do all along.
The girl then looked up and around and saw the time. 'Time flies doesn't it?' Her expression changed to that of sadness and she sighed. "I have to go... the teachers gave me a ton of homework and then I have to try to get a good sleep on top of that." She laughed just slightly and you could tell that she looked disappointed. She didn't want to leave. Lauren was having too much fun to just go off and leave right now. But, she didn't see much of a choice. That homework was not going to do itself, and she slowly go up from the table. "This was really nice George. Maybe we will see each other again. Probably not though, you'll probably be busy." The voice was like a bell that went along with a sad tune and she didn't know whether to jsut leave, or to stay for a little bit longer, so she just stood there, and waited for an answer.

george smiled when she commented that she wasn't a goody-two-shoes. good. the world needed people that weren't like percy. the anti-percy. like him and fred! peopel who wanted to be unboring and make people happy. her bell like voice penetrated his mind with a few simple words. "Yes, I do sometimes, and I might tonight as well."
the redhead had no idea what she was on about so didn't say anything. she was probably building up a dramatic pause. that's what he and fred normally did when they wanted to build the suspense for a good prank. the silence grew for a few seconds. then she leant forward and kissed him. george's heart froze in shock as their lips met. "woah," he uttered when she asked him if that was daring enough. and all he could hear in his head was that one word. woah. it was rather embarrassing but the truth was that george had never been kissed. or kissed anybody. ever. he had never really liked anyone that much to break his and fred's silent 'love'. he didn't want to betray his brother. but if he was kissed well it didn't really count, did it? "I have to go... the teachers gave me a ton of homework and then I have to try to get a good sleep on top of that." what? george could see that she didn't want to go. george watched in stunned silence as she slowly got up to leave. "This was really nice George. Maybe we will see each other again. Probably not though, you'll probably be busy." george shot up like a rocket at that, a urgentness to his movements. "please don't leave," he pleaded, a look of sad patheticness on his face. he didn't want her to leave. Lauren looked a bit shocked after she had done that and it sunk in after realizing that she had to leave. Now she needed to leave for two reasons. She needed to take a quick get away so she wouldn't get caught. "I am sorry... I have to go." The girl said, and then quickly grabbed her heels before racing out on her bare feet. She didn't know what she was going to do after this. She would need to do everything in her power to look like she usually did. The sixth year could easily get away with it. And, that she was she was planning to do. She rushed out of the open Great Hall doors and rushed right at the stairs. Now her heart was pounding from all of the events, and racing due to her going at such a fast speed in order to get away. That had also been her first kiss, she might have dated a few people in the past, but she didn't let them kiss her, that was for sure.
After she made it up the first bit of stairs she leaned against a wall, and tried to catch her breath. She knew that she needed to keep going in order to really get out of there, and so once she regained herself, she quickly walked up the stairs, going staircase by staircase. Being sure that she didn't get on to one of the trick steps. Lauren rushed into the Gryffindor common room as soon as she got up there and raced pasted the people there, so all they saw was a blur. Everything was quickly taken off, the make up all was washed away, the mask was off, the dress taken off to be replaced with her usual robes. Her hair was back to the way it was normally, and she looked at herself in the mirror and nodded. She calmly headed down the stairs with books in head. Lauren did not know when Fred and George were coming back. But, she was going to look like she had just a little too much homework to go to the ball and that way she could fool them, at least for the night.
