&& what makes you feel so self-assured
Lauren wondered around the Dungeon, just for the heck of it. She wasn't really tired that night, and with that she was just wondering around. There were a lot of plans in her head of what she was going to do with one certain Slytherin, but of course she wouldn't say them out loud here. The dungeons contained the Slytherin Common Room, of course, and saying anything about a prank on a Slytherin would not be the best idea down here. The sixth year started humming a tune very lightly, seeming to be in a rather relaxed mood. She wasn't down there to cause trouble, and she was planning on maybe going to the kitchens just to see how the house elves were doing. It had for the most part gone well so far this year, and she knew she was asking for it by coming down here, but she didn't really care right at that moment.
As she got closer to the Common Room, she heard some chatting from the Slytherins that she could not really hear. She got out one of the ear things that George and Fred had made, and slipped it through the portrait hole. She didn't listen for very long, she didn't find the conversation that interesting, so she put the things away, and just started humming around looking at the locked potions class room. Lauren thought about how she could open the door, and then she shook her head. That wouldn't be right at all, Snape hadn't done anything that bad this year yet, and with that she was going to leave dear old Professor Snape alone for a bit longer. As for the majority of the Slytherins, it really depended on how they treated her on what she would do. So far, the only one on her hit list was Draco Malfoy, but that could easily change if they were a downright bully to her and other people.
"...Merlin... ...this year isn't very interesting at all is it?" Lauren spoke to herself as she started to head towards where the kitchens were. She knew that she had to tickle the pear in order to get in, and she started to lift up her finger, when she thought she heard something, she turned around not sure what to except. "Who's there?" The sixth year spoke, a little bit on edge since she had no idea who was there, and she definitely needed to know that in order to be prepared. Something told her, that this year was just about to get a bit more interesting.

It was a rather boring night. Pansy sat up in the Slytherin fifth year girl's dormitory, the hangings of her four-poster bed pulled closed around her. She was quite sure everyone else was asleep. The other girls around her in the dormitory, and the any of the other Slytherins that she would have cared to talk to, were in their different dormitories around the dungeon. She wished Draco was up, but she knew he wasn't, or could be nearly positive of it. He had walked past her in the common room, some twenty minutes ago. Straight up to the boy's dormitory he had gone, looking extremely exhausted. There was no dout that he was asleep. Sighing, she looked down at her lap.
Picking the book in front of her that she had gotten tired of reading, back up, she flipped it open to the page she had marked. For a moment, she simply stared at, blankly, not reading the words written across the pages. It was the homework she dreaded doing. History of Magic. Pansy absolutely despised Professor Binns and his terribly boring History of Magic class. Then again, who didn't? During every class, every student looked about ready to fall asleep on their desks, only to be kept awake by writing the notes that were necessary to remember anything later for homework. With that thought, Pansy leaned forward and grabbed the notebook on the edge of the bed, then the quill, ink and parchment sitting beside it.
Time passed exceedingly slowly, and she found herself staring blankly at the page of the History of Magic textbook again. Closing her slightly open mouth, blinking and shaking her head, she snapped back to. Her silver gaze swirved over to the single sheet of parchment. It was still blank, not a single drop of ink to be seen on it. "No way I'm doing this tonight, simply no way," she mumbled under her breath. She dropped the parchment and quill in the center of the book to hold her page and set it all aside on the bed again. The assignment wasn't due for a couple days, she had time to do it, even if she didn't that night.
A sudden loud snore broke the silence in the dormitory. Pansy's face twisted in revulsion. "And that's my cue to get out and take a walk," she muttered under her breath again, this time with a tone to match her facial expression. Nudging the tiniest bit of the hangings to the side, she slipped past them, eyes flickering back and forth to make sure everyone really was sleeping. After a minute of silence, she tugged her Slytherin robes out from under her bed, threw them on over her pajamas, and headed out. Voices found her ears instantly. There were still people awake. Shrugging she made her way across the common room and through the portrait hole. Looking up, she saw another figure, just before they went around the corner. Raising an eyebrow, she drew her wand and ran after them, intent on finding out who else was down in the dungeons. Coming to a quick halt, she peered around the corner, at the back of the girl standing in front of the portrait to get into the kitchens. She pulled her head back when they spoke and waited for a second. Lifting her wand, she stepped around the corner. "What are you doing down here..." she paused, studying the other girl's face for a moment. She was almost sure she had seen her around. "Gryffindor," she finished scornfully, not lowering her wand, but not doing anything yet either.

Lauren looked over and saw Pansy Parkinson, oh boy this was not good at all. "What are you doing out Pansy? You know we both aren't supposed to be out and about." She told her, and smiled knowing that they were both breaking the rules, and that she couldn't do much about it. "What I am doing around here, is just planning to see the house elves in the kitchen, and if you don't mind me. I will be heading that way now." The sixth year did not even bother to get out her wand, she didn't feel like messing with it. Really, if Pansy was going to cause trouble, she could all she wanted, she only went after people that constantly caused other people distress anyways. "Besides, I know Bins assigned a huge paper for every year, and I already did it so..." The girl shook her head, and started to tickle the pear that was on the painting in order to go into the kitchen.
The girl finally bothered to get out her wand. "Lumos." She muttered, and looked back at her. "I am no threat. See?" Her wand lit up so she could see the path in front of her, but she already knew that she was doomed. Lauren was best friends with two of the biggest pranksters, and the both of them loved to prank Slytherin folk. This meant, that she would probably try to have a go at her. That was fine then, she could go ahead and try, but she was not going to just sit there, and not defend herself like a sitting duck. Doing that would just be foolish, and she would probably just laugh at her for it. Either way, this was probably not the best thing to happen to her, even if it made everything more interesting for the start of the year. She would prefer not being all beat up around the time of the ball. And, she could bet anything that Pansy didn't want to be either.
"The ball is soon, and I know you don't want to look bad for it. I don't want to either." The sixth year spoke, and started to head towards to the open door way to the kitchens. She hoped that Pansy would just leave her alone. Lauren highly doubted it though, and knew that she would probably try to come up with some reason to cause trouble. After all, that would be typical of both Slytherins and Gryffindors to do that to each other. And, that was really no other logical reason other than that.
