"No, you guys just go on ahead. I might head to Hogsmeade later on, but not right now." the Gryffindor girl told her two best friends, as she stood there outside with them. Hermione wasn't really in the mood to go wandering off through Hogsmeade today, she knew she'd have plenty other times to go and who knew, maybe the girl would get bored enough with studying to wander off that way and search for the two boys.
Waving them off, Hermione hugged the book to her chest as she wandered away from the main grounds and went off towards the direction of the lake. It was starting to get a bit colder out and with everyone else heading off to Hogsmeade, she knew the lake would be empty of students and quiet. When she reached the lake, Hermione took a seat on a piece of drift wood, setting the defense against the dark arts book down in her lap, as she opened it up returning to where she left off. Her best friends had asked why she was going to spend the saturday studying instead of spending doing other things, but she merely shrugged, telling them she had a quiz coming up within the following week and needed to be prepared for it. Even though, it was a small lie to them, but others had been around them.
Hermione wandered if she would get in trouble by Umbridge if she was to be caught reading the DADA book that is meant for the fifth years. She didn't see why it would be harmful to do such a thing. The whole point of the class was to teach the students how to defend them against the dark side of magic that is out there. Even if Umbridge, the Ministry and many others believe that there is nothing out there to fear, Hermione knew better.
This thought interrupted her from being able to concentrate on the material before her. A small sigh escaped her lips, as she shut the book closed, laying one arm across the book and the other, with her elbow resting on her leg and her hand cupping the side of her face. Hermione stared out across the lake; the sun was reflecting off it and it look almost peaceful. Except for a few ripples here and there, which the girl figured had been caused by the squid.

'Yeah, see you later guys’, Cormac said with a slight sigh. He was fed up of them, fed up of having the constrant stream of younger students following him. There was a time not so long ago where he relished it. All of the attention and people swooning over him made him feel wanted and appreciated. Something which he had had to strive for in the shadow of his older brother as a child. He walked away from the five younger boys, waving a hand in the air, not as a farewell but more as a sign of dismissal.
Things had changed in the last couple of weeks for Cormac, he now had a feeling of apprehension constantly. Wherever he went he felt like he was going to be attacked, always feeling on edge was not a fun way of living in all honesty. To Cormac there was only one remedy for such a feeling, not a trip to the Hospital Wing to see Madam Pomfrey, oh no, a much more interesting remedy.
It was as Cormac threw open the front doors of Hogwarts castle and inhaled that smell of the great outdoors and felt the cool breeze hit his tired face that he felt that apprehension rise up through him and out of the top of his head. Suddenly, he adopted his normal confident stride and marched out of the castle with his favourite object in his hand. Gripped in his right hand was a fairly new Cleansweep Seven Eighty. The newest of the Cleansweep range of racing brooms. The body of the broomstick was a deep mahogany wood while the bristles were a gleaming gold, brushed to a smooth and aerodynamic shape. Walking down the sloping grounds he suddenly stopped, swung his leg over the broom with remarkable swiftness, pushed down on his left foot and burst up into the cool air.
He wasn’t in the mood for bewitching Quaffles to fly at him to serve as practice, he just wanted to fly. He loved the ease of it, this is what he had grown up doing and this was what he loved doing. He strangely wanted his gaggle of followers back with him, watching from the grounds in awe of his flying capabilities. In the few moments he was airborne he was slowly but surely going to back to his old ways of thinking. He dove in and out of imaginary obstacles, rolling and tilting with great finesse. He had just banked round the far edge of the lake when he spotted it.
Or rather spotted someone. He flew silently around the opposite bank of the lake to where the person layed, hidden in the shadows of the trees that towered above the great lake. As he flew closer still around the lake towards the person he could finally make out who it was. He gave a light chuckle and said ‘Ho ho!’, with that remark he burst to full speed heading straight towards her. As he was a mere feet from here, he swooped down brushing the top of her head, grinning as he flew past her. He whirled around in the air to look at her, ‘Nice peaceful day we’re having isn’t it?’[/color]
