the stars are shining
to whisper goodbye
"Has there even been a point in going to a party if there isn't even any solid drama to keep a girl going?" Savannah Rosa Ashford murmured to herself as she wandered through the empty courtyard outside the noisy castle. She wore something only the super chic Savannah could track down. Her dress was a midnight blue shade, to bring out the sheer brilliance of her "Ashford Eyes" and it was in delicate layers of different fabrics. It shimmered with a few little hidden sparkles. Savannah was the type of girl who knew how to do her makeup with the finesse of an artist. She could add sparkles to her face without looking like a two-year-old that had gotten into her mum's supply. The dress was about knee-length and the bottom could only remind her of something a ballerina would pick out. She had a dark blue belt around her waist to add to the whole image. The neckline was "v" cut and had a hint of a collar, just enough to make a statement. The sleeves were tiny, almost t-shirt style. SavRose was on a mission in the fashion world. Some people called her fake but she simply thought of it as the true masquerade.
It was a masquerade though! Perched on Savannah's nose was the kind of mask that makes others wonder exactly how it came into existence. Savannah had made it herself. She was quite brilliant with things in the arts and crafts department so, it wasn't really shocking if people knew her well enough. The mask matched her dress in its midnight blue shades and had delicate little silver swirling designs all over it. It made her eyes stand out even more than they usually did. Sav knew she had little chance of deceiving people. She'd need sunglasses and a complete makeover to do that. She didn't care if they hated her at this party, if no one wanted to dance with her. She'd built up her reputation on purpose. She was above all this nonsense anyway. Savannah Rose Ashford was much too good for school events. It was written plainly across her face.
She sighed and walked her stiletto clad feet over to a splashing fountain. She sat on the little edge, perched like a bird despite being far from described as any bird this world could offer. She caught a whiff of freshly cut grass on the wind and took of moment of nostalgia, thinking of all her time wasted growing up at this school. Then, she felt that eerie pang in the back of her head, she was about to have a vision and she couldn't stop it.
She was at the edge of the cliff again with Caravus. They looked down in silence. Neither of them were really breathing anymore. Savannah's eyes were huge but this time, she saw something else there. Was she afraid? Vulnerable? The vision was as crystal clear as it had always been.
Some people had reoccurring dreams or sometimes nightmares. Savannah had reoccurring visions. This was the same vision she'd had her entire life. Well, it was a snippet of that same vision. She got it at least once a week and, despite always being crystal clear, it drove her mad. She couldn't ever get any new clues. Why did Caravus stand there with her? He was dead! Caravus couldn't possibly be standing there in theory, right? Savannah placed a fingertip to her throbbing temple and stared at the entry-way to the courtyard. She didn't need to be psychic to know someone was coming. She composed herself, making her face look bored, gone.
