WELCOME TO HOGWARTS ACADEMY OF MAGIC
along with the fall of the death eaters, the battle of hogwarts left the castle in crumbling ruins of brick and mortar. the towers were fit to collapse and the great hall was marked 'dangerous' by a ministry inspector. in short, it was no longer reasonable to continue housing and educating students within. sad as it was to see the ancient place of magical learning go, it was voted that the school be torn down and a new one constructed in its place. as it happened, there was an unforeseen amount of magic holding the fortress to the grounds, and it proved impossible to remove or rebuild, even by magical means. with no other option, the hogwarts ruins were left 'intact', for lack of better term, and erected around it were various halls - mini-castles named for a former hogwarts headmaster, each designated for different purposes. this collection of halls have been christened hogwarts academy of magic. the ruins are off-limits to students, but that has only served to cause more of them to explore the famous structure under cover of night. other than that, life goes on. the dark lord has been a fading, nightmarish memory for about two decades now. everyone is trying to forget about blood and family, pure or otherwise. acclaim is instead geared toward skill and wit. focus is placed more on why a person is in a house than which house they are in. there will always be the few who refuse to let the pureblood dream die, but they are in the marginal minority and tend to keep their radical ideas under wraps. 'blood status' is a term met with the same involuntary shudder as the name 'voldemort' once commanded. the purebloods, muggleborns, and half-bloods of varying degree will attempt to navigate their way through these new murky times, while the wizarding world collectively tries to erase traces of the second war. as it stands, those willing to let go of the past find themselves presented with a whole new beginning, while the few who remain hesitant to rebuild are forced to accept that times are changing - for the better, and are leaving behind old prejudice and vendettas. whether grateful or reluctant, no one can deny that the wizarding community appears to have stumbled upon a whole new world.
